You see... I've been trying to build my own Computer, and its not working very well.

Also, My older computer I fear may be inoperable now. If this is true, and I can't get my "new" computer to work, I fear this may be the end of the only life I've ever known on the internet.... Crying or Very sad

I'm hoping things will turn out alright but... *sigh*.

Errr... most of us are hardcore computer nerds that have had success building PC's (okay, me, supa, brutus, punch, shoes) ... so we'll help you out. It's odd that you didn't bother to ask for help. I'm not sure why I .. oh nevermind.

I guess... I don't know how to ask for help, or who to ask... or the fact that AIM doesn't work on this computer.

Okay I've got here an intell desktop board D915GAV in a Dynex ATX mid tower (the one that includes the 500 megawat powersupply) with the hard drive salvaged from the old one... does that help any?

It seems when I turn the computer on, it dies mysteriously after a while. IN adition, when I plug in the Monitor, it doesn't show anything. I'm not sure but I think it might have to do with the salvaged hard drive (its not the monitor, Its the same one that the computer I'm using to talk now is using.). I wish I knew how to hook up all this stuff etc.

Yeah, uhh, I hate to break it to you, but I pretty much just went over this exact same shit in some other forum and a guy had the same problem(s).

It probably has nothing to do with the hard drive. You may have fried the mobo while installing the CPU or maybe you didn't put it in right. Make sure you read the manual. IIRC, that board is a Grantsdale board, meaning it has onboard video and you didn't install a video card. Make sure you cleared the CMOS.

If this is your first build I highly recommend you download a how-to off the internet. I am sure there are many "how-to-build-a-pc" guides out there. When things don't go as they should or you need specific help then post here. But without some kind of context as to where you are then peeps can't help you. Very Happy

Tower/powerpack: Dynex ATX mid tower (the one that includes the 500 megawat powersupply)
Graphics Card: XFX Geforce 6200
CD: Dynex 52x internal CD-ROM drive
Hard Drive: ??? (salvaged off of a Dell Demention 2400 series computer)
